Phytoplankton |
The plankton community of Bhatghar reservoir confirms the oligotrophic nature of the water body. Total plankton count varies from 8 to 6601 units/l, with Chlorophyceae, represented by Gonatozygon, Hormidium, Eudorina, Closteridium and Kirchneriella forming the major group. The blue-green algae, Microcystis aeruginosa and other taxa indicative of organic enrichment are present in small numbers. Diatoms (Navicula, Nitzchia, Syndera, and Surirella), Dinophyceae (Ceratium) and desmids (Staurastrum) are the other forms recorded |
