ICAR-CIFRI provides Technical Guidance to Bihar on Fish Catch Estimation

Scientists from the ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CIFRI) held a productive meeting with Shri Umesh Kumar Ranjan, Deputy Director (Fisheries – Statistics & Marketing), Government of Bihar, in the presence of Dr. Srikanta Samanta, In-Charge Director, ICAR-CIFRI.

During the interaction, experts from ICAR-CIFRI provided detailed consultancy on scientific methodologies for fish catch estimation in inland water bodies. The discussion emphasized the development of a robust frame survey, adoption of appropriate sampling techniques, and formulation of a comprehensive approach for estimating fish production at block and district levels.
The team assured continued technical support and collaboration to develop a reliable, scientifically sound, and practical estimation framework tailored to strengthen Bihar’s fisheries sector.
