Online training on “Capacity building on “Fish disease and health management in inland waters”

Diseases are some of the major constraints in fisheries and aquaculture but fishers and fish farmers are not equipped with knowhow to diagnose and control fish and shellfish diseases. To develop capacity of farmers, students and entrepreneurs in fish health, a three days (4-6 March, 2021) training on “Fish disease and health management in inland waters” has been initiated on 5 March 2021 by ICAR-CIFRI under the ICAR funded All India Network project on fish health. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, in august presence of HODs and In-charges of different sections of the Institute. He welcomed the candidates from across India and briefed about the importance of fish disease diagnosis and health management practices for higher fish and shellfish production. Scientists and Professors from ICAR-CIFRI, ICAR-CIFA, ICAR-CIBA, ICAR-NBFGR, WBUAFS and Private entrepreneurs will deliver lecture on different topics of fish health management in inland waters. Over-whelming responses of more than 500 applications were received from different parts of the country: 100 of them attended the training on Google meet platform and others are active on the live broadcast in YouTube channel (AINP Fish Health CIFRI). The online training is believed to enhance knowledge and capability of fishers and fish farmers, entrepreneurs, students and professionals to scientifically manage fish and shellfish diseases and thereby enhance fish and shellfish production.
