Technology Transfer License Agreement of “ICAR-CIFRI ARGCURE” signed with Glaucus Agrochem Pvt. Ltd
CIFRI ARGCURE Technology transfer license agreement signed by Dr. B. K. Das, Director ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata and Mr. Sariful Islam, Managing Director, Glaucus Agrochem Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata on 7 July 2021 in presence of Dr. J. K. Jena, Deputy Director General (Fisheries Sciences), ICAR and Dr. Sudha Mysore, CEO, Agrinnovate India Ltd. New Delhi.
As per the technology commercialization guidelines of Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), the commercialization of CIFRI-ARGCURE technology has been facilitated by Agrinnovate India Ltd (a Govt of India enterprises) and the technology license on non-exclusive basis for manufacturing and sale for 5 years is going to be transferred to Glaucus Agrochem Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata.
Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI welcomed all the guests and participants and briefed about the revolutionary technology “CIFRI ARGCURE” used in control of Argulus parasite. He said that this product has come after 5 years of rigrous research and 2 years of field trails. He emphasised that this is the fourth technology going to be commercialized by ICAR-CIFRI after three successful commercialized technologies CIFRI GI CAGE, CIFRI PEN HDPE and CIFRI Cagegrow fish feed.
Dr. J. K. Jena, DDG (FS), ICAR and Chief Guest in his address remarked that there are many products available for control of bacterial and viral disease of fish as these pathogens get immediate attention. People do not pay much attention to parasitic disease as they are not lethal. Our research study suggests that a loss of Rs.30000-75000/ha due to parasitic disease attack, which is quite substantial. CIFRI ARGCURE will surely provide respite from this parasitic outbreak in inland fisheries and aquaculture. He also stressed on safety issues, keeping condition of the formulation. I would like to congratulate Team members of ICAR-CIFRI and Mr. Sariful Islam, MD, Glaucus Agrochem Pvt. Ltd. on this important occasion.
Dr. Sudha Mysore, CEO, Agrinnovate India Ltd in his address said that due to pandemic conditions we could not join physically the signing in ceremony. I congratulate ICAR-CIFRI team for this effort and hopefully this technology will get great success.
Dr. B. P. Mohanty, ADG (Inland Fisheries), ICAR in his address emphasized that Argulus ia a big problem. This technology developed through nano formulation and found very effective in Argulus control. I presume a big market for this product in fisheries.
Shri Sariful Islam, Managing Director, Glaucus Agrochem Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata thanked ICAR-CIFRI for providing this opportunity. He hoped that this partnership with ICAR-CIFRI will strive and continue in future.
At the end the Vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Ganesh Chandra, In-Charge, Institute Technology Management Unit, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore.
CIFRI ARGCURE
To manage the parasite problem in fisheries and aquaculture, ICAR-CIFRI has developed an innovative product CIFRI-ARGCURE using polymeric nanomicelle approach. Experimental results show that CIFRI-ARGCURE is effective in controlling fish parasite Argulus bengalensis at a low dose as compared to conventional formulations. It was also found that the application of CIFRI-ARGCURE results in the disruption of hatching process of the parasite. Field evaluations showed that CIFRI-ARGCURE performed well in the field conditions and retain the water bodies’ parasite-free for longer time duration. The present innovation is directed towards better performance of antiparasitic molecules against fish parasites through nanotechnological interventions and further to improve food and environment safety through lowering the antiparasite application dose.
ed their doubts. The training programme was a great success and it was decided statewise handholding will be extended for more frequent conduction of similar training programmes.
