ICAR-CIFRI organized a collaborative training programme with MANAGE on “NUTRISMART FISH’ to boost the Nutritional Security of the Rural Women
Dr. P. Chandra Sekhara, Director General, MANAGE, Hyderabad inaugurated a collaborative online training programme on “NUTRISMART FISH’ to boost the Nutritional Security of the Rural Women” on 10th August,2021. The training programme is being organized by ICAR-CIFRI and MANAGE, Hyderabad from 10-12 August, 2021. The inaugural programme was started with welcome remarks by Dr. Shahaji Phand, Assistant Director, Centre for Extension in Agri-allied Sector, MANAGE, Hyderabad. Dr. B K Das, Director, CIFRI emphasized about the nutrition rich food fish and it’s role in food and nutritional security in his inaugural address. Dr. P Chandra Sekhara has congratulated Dr. B K Das, Director for the prestigious Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Award and Sardar BallavVai Patel best institute award 2020. Besides, he has expressed his delightness about the relevance of the training programme and given remarks about the nutritional security and importance of extension activities to achieve it. The three days training programme consisted of various topics covering the key aspects of nutritional security such as Assessment of nutritional needs; Importance of nutritional intervention during prenatal and postnatal stage (1000 days) to improve Childhood development; Common nutrient deficiency disorders in women and preventive measure; Fish as health food; Orientation on ‘Nutri-smart’ fish species; SIF to boost nutritional security ; Nutrifish’ –a potential avenue for livelihood security;, “Nutrifish” to address ‘Hidden hunger’; Nutritional requirement-based value addition on fish and fishery products; Cost effective nutrition sensitive innovations to address nutritional security. A total of 135 persons have registered for this training programme and are taking part actively in this programme. An e-book entitled “NUTRISMART FISH’ to boost the Nutritional Security of the Rural Women” containing all the lectures has been released in the inaugural session of the training this programme. Dr. B K Das and Dr. Shahaji Sambhaji Phand were the Programme Directors and Dr Aparna Roy ,Dr. Asit K. Bera and Mrs. Prajna R Swain were the coordinators of this training programme .
