CIFRI Awards
A five days capacity building program on “Inland Fisheries Management” is being organized by ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore under Scheduled Tribe Component (STC) was inaugurated on 21st September, 2021 by Director, CIFRI Dr. B.K Das. A total of 39 fisherwomen from Maldah district, West Bengal have participated in this training programme. The training is being conducted to appraise and improve the management strategy for fisheries enhancement in a sustainable way. In the inaugural session, Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI welcomed the participants and encouraged them to develop the knowledge and skills of inland fisheries management to generate employment and livelihood security. The training classes have started after assessing the trainings needs of the trainees. In this capacity building programme, the knowledge and skill will be imparted on various topics of fish rearing such as pond construction and preparation, water quality management, induced breeding techniques, composite fish culture, nursery and rearing pond management, polyculture of fish with SIF, fish disease management, feed preparation and ornamental fish culture techniques. The trainees will also have a hands-on-training session on water quality analysis. A field exposure visit will also be organized for the women trainees to East Kolkata wetland for giving an overall orientation regarding culture system in inland waters. This training programme is coordinated by Dr. Aparna Roy, Dr. P.K. Parida, Dr. Sajina A.M. and Dr. M. Shaya Devi.
