ICAR-CIFRI, Regional Centre, Bangalore conducted an online training programme on "Estimation of Fish Productivity in Inland Open Waterbodies" on 01 October 2021, to the 31 newly recruited Fisheries Development Officers at State Institute of Fisheries Technology (SIFT), Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh as a part of the in service training. Dr. Preetha Panikkar, Principal Scientist and HoRC, Regional Centre, Bangalore introduced about institute and the salient achievements made since the establishment. Mr. M. Karthikeyan, Scientist (SG) delivered a talk on the sampling methodologies for the estimation of fish catch from inland open water bodies and eMatsya. The recent advances in soil and water quality assessment for management of sustainable fisheries in inland open water were elaborated to the trainees by Dr. Ajoy Saha, Scientist. The participants were interested in adoption of eMatsya for fish catch assessment in particular. Ms. Jesna P. K., Scientist, moderated the programme.
