ICAR-CIFRI conducted online Training of Trainers programme on 22.2.22
ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore organized one day online ToT programme on “ Sustainable reservoir fisheries for employment generation” sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad on 22 Feb 2022. The programme was organized with the objective to educate and sensitize the line departments on reservoirs fisheries management. Dr. B.K. Das, Director, CIFRI welcomed the participants and congratulate the team CIFRI for conducting online ToT covering more than 10 states. Dr. Das stressed upon the fact that, the reservoirs are the sleeping giants and has huge potential to bridge production gap. The online ToT progamme was scheduled with six lectures. Dr. U.K Sarkar, HOD,RWF Division and also the coordinator of this programme gave an overview on Sustainable management of reservoir fisheries. Dr. A.K Das, I/C E & T Cell highlighted the role of Enclosure culture in reservoirs for enhancement of fish production and income. Dr. Lianthumluaia, Scientist gave a lecture on Ecology and productivity of Indian reservoirs. Highlights on role of Biotic community in reservoir fisheries enhancement was given by Dr. Suman Kumari. Shri Ganesh Chandra, Scientist enlighten the participants about Institutional arrangement for reservoir fisheries management. An overview of PMMSY schemes was given by Dr. Aparna Roy, Sr. Scientist ICAR-CIFRI. More than 200 participants from 10 different State Departments viz. Himachal Pradesh,Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhyapradesh, Chhatishgarh, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Puducherry, Tripura, Manipur participated in the ToT through zoom link or through You Tube. The programme ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. P. Mishal Scientist, ICAR-CIFRI.
