ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute is going through its 75th year of journey. It is also the 75th Anniversary of Indian Independence i.e. Bharat Ki Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav. In this regard, all Department and Ministries including ICAR is hosting series of defined programmes and events to celebrate the achievements of the last 74 years in various sectors of development. In this background, to pay tribute to both the causes of jubilations, ICAR-CIFRI is organizing Platinum Jubilee Lecture Series. On 9th March, ICAR-CIFRI organized the fourth lecture of the series by Prof. Bhaskaran Manimaran, Former Vice Chancellor of Tamil Nadu Dr. J Jaylalithaa Fisheries University, Nagapattinam in a hybrid mode, both online and off-line. As a Founder Vice-Chancellor, he is an architect of State funded Fisheries University, first of its kind, in India imparting professional education research and training to enhance fish production and its utilization by following SAU pattern and syllabi. He was also technical Director of Coastal Aquaculture Authority. Presently he is an international aquaculture consultant promoting clean and green logics in aquaculture and fisheries. He delivered his lecture on ‘Productivity enhancement in open water fisheries development: Strategies for improved ecological and carbon foot prints’. The lecture was very informative and a vibrant interaction session was held after the lecture. More than 146 persons participated in the lecture session, either on line or off line mode.
