Fish ranching programme at Patana organized under the auspicious presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Tarkishore Prasad.

As part National Ranching Programme under Namami Gange Project, ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata, a ranching programme was organised at Patna, Bihar on 3rd June 2022. On this occasion, 2 Lakhs of Fish seeds of Indian Major Carp were ranched in river Ganga at Patna, Bihar. The objective of the ranching was for conservation and restoration of fish species in Ganga river. The programme was organized under the auspicious presence of the Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar, Shri Tarkishore Prasad.

On this occasion, the seeds of artificially bred Gangetic brooders were released in the river. Dr. Basanta Kumar Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI & Principal Investigator, Namami Gangep; Dr. Rameswar Singh, Vice Chancellor, Bihar Animal Science University, Dr Asutosh Upadhyay Director, ICAR Research Complex for Eastern Region (ICAR-RCIR) and Shri Nishat Ahmed, Director, Dept. of Fisheries sensitized local fisher folks and highlighted the importance of river ranching. He emphasized on “Aviral Dhara” and “Nirmal Dhara” of river. The event was organised in the presence of CIFRI Scientists, DFO, PFCS Secretary and local social workers
