ICAR-CIFRI extends livelihood support to fishers of Jharkhand under STC and SCSP

ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore extends its support to the fishermen cooperative societies belonging to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities for their livelihood improvement through distribution of fisheries FRP boats. ICAR-CIFRI has given 10 nos. of FRP boats to the SC and ST fishers of 10 reservoirs situated in three districts (Ranchi, Hazaribagh and Khunti) of Jharkhand during 27-29 June 2022. Out of these 10 boats, seven FRP boats with outboard motors were distributed to the cooperative society (Schedule caste) of the reservoirs namely Perkha, Bonda, Keredari, Ghaghra, Jarahiya, Kanke and Hatia.
Further, three boats were distributed among cooperative society (Schedule tribes) of the reservoirs namely Getalsud, Karanji and Lotwa. The demonstration of the motorised FRP boats was organised on each reservoirs. This will help society in monitoring fishing and fish culture activities in enclosure systems of the reservoirs. The programme was organized under the overall guidance of Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore, and coordinated by A. K. Das, Principal Scientist and Dr. Raju Baitha, Scientist. District officials of state fisheries department attended this program.
