Fisheries and aquaculture in inland waterbodies of Assam’ organized at ICAR-CIFRI Regional Centre, Guwahati

ICAR-CIFRI Regional Centre, Guwahati organized a three-days training programme on ‘Fisheries and aquaculture in inland waterbodies of Assam’ for 15 fish farmers of Nagaon and Morigaon district, Assam during Nov. 24-26, 2022. The training programme was sponsored by NABARD,

Guwahati, Assam and organized in collaboration with Social Work and Research Center (NGO), Juria, Nagaon, Assam. During the programme, farmers were given training on design and construction of fish ponds, integrated fish-cum-livestock farming, fish seed production, fish health management, water and soil quality management, composite fish culture, fisheries enhancement in floodplain wetlands, fish feed formulation and a practical session on various steps of feed preparation. A field visit was organized at Kolong-Kapili (NGO), Kamrup, Assam wherein the farmers were exposed to fish farming practices including horticulture and aqua-tourism.

Shri Jyotish Talukdar, Director of Kolong-Kapili explained various activities of their NGO. The training programme was organized under the leadership of Dr. B.K. Das, Director & Course Director; Dr. B.K. Bhattacharjya, Head & Convenor and actively managed by Dr. Dipesh Debnath, Senior Scientist and Dr. Simanku Borah, Scientist & Organizing Secretaries; Dr. Sona Yengkokpam, Senior Scientist, Dr. S.C.S. Das, Senior Scientist and Ms. Niti Sharma, Scientist & Co-organizing Secretaries and Dr. Pronob Das, Senior Scientist, Mr. Sanjit Saikia, YPII and all staff of the Centre.
