The expo begins with an inaugural session on 18 Apr, 2022 followed by the opening of the exhibitions. Mr. Pravash Pradhan, Chief Editor, Aqua Post and Smart Agri Post Magazines welcomed the dignitaries and participants for the expo. As a knowledge partner, ICAR-CIFRI along with P2C Communications organized the Conference on the theme “Value Chain Development and Investment opportunities in Livestock, Fisheries, Poultry and Dairy sector in North Eastern Region” on 20 April, 2023.
The conference was attended by more than 350 stakeholders including officials from private and govt. sector, academicians, researchers, students, bankers, industrialist, entrepreneurs, livestock rearers, fishers/ fish farmers and others. During the conference, technical session deliberations were made on different aspects of livestock, fisheries, poultry and dairy sectors followed by a panel discussion and question/ answer session. The programme successfully ended with the valedictory session. Mr. Pradhan welcomed the dignitaries and participants. Dr. L. Narasimhamurthy, Sr. Executive Director, National Fisheries Development Board, Govt. of India, Hyderabad addressed the gathering. He highlighted different govt. schemes for development of fisheries sector in the region. Dr. V. K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Guwahati highlighted issues related to livestock and poultry sector of the region. Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICARI-CIFRI, Barrackpore discussed about inland fisheries resources of the Northeast, their role in livelihood and income enhancement and recent interventions of ICAR-CIFRI. A special issue of Aqua Post Magazine on “Fisheries and aquaculture potential in Northeast India” was released during the programme. Shri Tage Taki, Hon’ble Minister, Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Veterinary, Fisheries, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh addressed the gathering and thanked the organizer for organizing the expo and conference, which is first of its kind in the region. He also urged the gathering to work towards sustainable development of animal husbandry and fisheries sector of the region. The programme ended with vote of thanks from Mr. Pradhan.
