Dr. B. K. Das, Director in his welcome address said that this ranching is a part of National Ranching program 2023 in which we are trying to rejuvenate the native fish stock in the river Ganga. He stressed that fish are not only a important source of livelihood but are also play vital role in reducing the pollution status of the river system. Sri. Shantanu Thakur, honourable minister in his address as chief guest praised the initiative of ICAR-CIFRI and Namami Gange and said that ranching will not only help the farmers but also help river to restore it's ecosystem. Honourable Minister also requested local fisher's to not use zero mesh size net fishing.
Shri. Ramnivas Yadav, IAS , Deputy Commissioner and Shri. Manish Tiwari, IFS, Divisional Forest Officer addressed the gathering and said that this ranching initiative will not only increase the fish population but will also help other aquatic organisms like Dolphin to flourish their population.
