The primary goal of the ICAR sports meet is to promote enthusiasm, endurance, and teamwork in order to handle hard challenges at any level in the country. The ICAR Sport Scheme was launched in 1979 to commemorate the organization's Golden Jubilee. Since that time, it has been conducted on a rotating basis in several institutes. Various events are held at the institute headquarters to organize and systemize the sports process in ICAR. After qualifying at the institute level, the athletes advance to the zonal level. The inter-zonal final competition is held at one of the institutes selected with the winners of different zonal levels as participants.
The ICAR-CIFRI sports contingent competed in individual and team activities, which included races, shot-put, javelin throw, discuss-throw, football, volleyball (smashing), cricket, badminton (singles and doubles), carrom, chess, and others. CIFRI athletes won four medals (3 gold and one silver) in the events of shot-put, javelin throw, badminton singles and doubles. Dr. Sajina A.M., Dr. Suman Kumari, and Dr. Anjana Ekka won those competitions.
The overall participation in sports was under the direct observation and leadership of Dr. B. K. Das, the institute's Director. Dr. Dibakar Bhakta, Scientist, and Mr. Kausik Mondal, Technical Assistant, have been designated as Chief-De-Mission (CDM) and Manager of the CIFRI sports contingent, respectively, to ensure the smooth operation of the activities.
