ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute Organised 7 days capacity building Programme on ‘Inland Fisheries Management’ for the fish farmers of Muzaffarpur district of Bihar from 2-8 August 2023. 30 fish farmers along with one fisheries development officer participated in the capacity building program. The program was sponsored by Directorate of Fisheries, Government of Bihar.
In his inaugural address, Dr. B.K. Das, Director ICAR-CIFRI said Muzaffarpur is one of the progressive district of Bihar in terms of fish production. He stressed on the need of fishers to grasp more knowledge on inland fisheries management to secure a sustainable livelihood. He urged fishers to use their available resources to maximize outputs and productivity. He hoped that the fish farmers will adopt scientific fisheries management and strive for higher growth.
The week long training programme covered inland fisheries, fish farming including pond management, induced breeding, composite fish farming, ornamental fishery, enclosure culture, fish health management, Climate change and its impact apart from a general overview of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojona. The fish farmers were also introduced to the Institute's Recirculatory Aquaculture System (RAS), ornamental hatchery units, and fish feed mill.
The week long program was culminated on 8 August 2023 and the certificates were distributed to all the participants.. Training Programme was coordinated by Ganesh Chandra, and Suman Kumari with assistance from Abhishek Saha, Kaushik Mondal, Sujit Chowdhury and Manabendra Roy.
