Dr. B. Meenakumari, in her address as the Chief Guest, congratulated the officers and staff of ICAR-CIFRI on its 78th Foundation Day, recognizing the institute's pivotal role in shaping the fisheries sector since its inception. She shared that progress of science can contribute immensely to the growth of nation. Prof. Gautam Saha praised ICAR-CIFRI for its longstanding support in fostering the growth of the fisheries sector in India and applauded its efforts in assisting fishers and farmers to double their income.
Dr. B. P. Mohanty expressed his privilege in serving the institute for 25 years and extended his best wishes, while Dr. Madan Mohan highlighted the institute's revolutionary technologies like induced breeding and composite fish culture that have transformed the fisheries sector in the country. Dr. A. K. Singh and Dr. Pradip Dey also conveyed their best wishes to the staff of ICAR-CIFRI, lauding efforts of the institute in reaching unreached and unserved communities.
The event also saw the release of two publications, "Indian Major Carps: Conservation plans and fish spawn prospecting in River Ganga" and a Hindi book titled "Bihar Rajya me Antarsthaliya Matsyiki Prabandhan". Meritorious students were felicitated, and institutional awards were distributed for outstanding performance across various categories. The celebration was attended by fish farmers, students and staff members of ICAR-CIFRI, marking another milestone in the institute's journey of excellence.
