The team carrie The main objectives of the ranching was to i) to enhance the IMC population in the river Ganga under the biodiversity conservation programme of both NMCG and NTPC and ii) to maintain good river health. In the programme, Dr. B.K.Das, Director said the ranching programme has enhanced the IMC population by 13% in the river Ganga since last 5 years. Furthermore, he highlighted the role of Labeo calbasu in the river health improvement and livelihood improvement. Furthermore, Dr. Das urged the local fishers not to catch the juvenile hilsa and other fish species towards fish species conservation in river Ganga. Dr. A.K.Sahoo, Senior Scientist proposed the vote of thanks and acknowledge the role particularly the financial supports provided by NMCG and NTPC towards the ranching programme in the river Ganga.
