She then chaired the meeting with all the scientific, technical, administrative and supporting staff of the Centre. In the meeting, RAC, Chairman stressed upon the need to use recent technologies for the development of fisheries sector of the country in general and inland fisheries in particular. She emphasized on the importance of collaboration with institutes like IITs, INCOIS for improving the skills of scientific staff of the Centre keeping in pace with the recent technological advancements. She expressed her high expectations from scientific staff of the Centre and appreciated the activities of the Centre, which is catering to the needs of the entire NE region of the country..
Dr. Subashisa Dutta, Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT, Guwahati and Member, RAC, ICAR-CIFRI was also present in the meeting. In this address, he highlighted the activities of IIT, Guwahati and expressed his desire to collaborate with ICAR-CIFRI in the field of application of Artificial Intelligence and Deep Learning in Fisheries. His talk was followed by a presentation on the ongoing activities of the Centre by Dr. S.K. Majhi, Principal Scientist and Head of Guwahati Regional Centre, ICAR-CIFRI. The meeting concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Simanku Borah, Scientist of the Centre. On 22nd June, 2024, Chairman RAC also visited the cage culture site of ICAR-CIFRI at Umiam reservoir, Shillong, Meghalaya.
