Human Resource Development of Technical Officers of ICAR Fisheries Research Institutes on Advances in Aquatic Health Management

Fish and shellfish diseases incur significant economic loss to the fisheries and aquaculture sector. ICAR fisheries research institutes and fisheries universities of the country are putting significant efforts and resources to develop diagnostic, preventive and therapeutic control measures. For capacity building of technical officers working in different fisheries research institutes and universities of the country ICAR-CIFRI organized a training programme on “Advances in Aquatic Health Management” at its HQ at Barrackpore during 26-30 August 2024. The programme was inaugurated on 26 August 2024 by Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI who stressed on improving knowledge and skill of technical officers in disease diagnosis and aquatic health determination. The hands-on training focussed on water quality analysis, and classical and molecular approaches in diagnosis of virus, bacterial, fungal and parasitic diseases of fish and shellfish. A total of 30 technical officers and researchers from ICAR-CIFRI, ICAR-NBFGR, OUAT and ICAR-CIFE participated in the 5-days long programme.
