ICAR-CIFRI organised 3 days Training programme on ‘Cage and Pen culture for enhancing fish production from reservoirs’ for tribal fishers of Palghar district of Maharashtra

ICAR-CIFRI through its Research station at Vadodara in collaboration with Department of Fisheries, Thane and Palghar District, Government of Maharashtra organised 3 days Training programme on ‘Cage and Pen culture for enhancing fish production from reservoirs’ for tribal fishers of Palghar district of Maharashtra during 25-27 March 2025. Twenty eight tribal fishers of the Palghar district attended the training programme. Mr. D. H. Patil, Assistant Commissioner of Fisheries, Palghar district graced the inaugural
session of the training programme as Chief Guest and appraised fishermen about the various Government schemes available for fishermen under TSP by Department of Fisheries, Government of Maharashtra. Dr. S. P. Kamble, Senior Scientist and Officer In-Charge, ICAR-CIFRI, Vadodara, trained the participants in various aspects of cage and pen culture for seed and table fish production. The theory lectures includes in the training programme were cage culture and Pen culture, feeding management in enclosure cultures in inland open waters and environment and fish health management in enclosure culture.
Mr. J. K. Solanki, Technical Officer of the Vadodara Research Station took practical session on role of environmental parameters and their importance in cage and pen culture in Inland open waters. Active participation of the Mr. J. K. Solanki, Technical Officer, Dr. Sandip Jadhav, Assistant Fisheries Development Officer and Mrs. Priyanka Mhapsekar, Assistant Fisheries Development Officer made the programme successful.
