Technology options for improving livelihood of fishermen community

Inland fisheries and aquaculture is pregnant of multifaceted possibilities for improving livelihood and ensuring nutritional security of millions of the fishermen community including aqua culturist living in the country. Despite the quantum jump in the aquaculture production and through the management of natural resources the community of fishermen are witnessed to be poverty stricken and malnourished. The technologies in inland fisheries possess capability to eradicate poverty, promoting healthy life through generating income and employment, opportunities at their door step while enhancing efficiency and productivity. The National Fishery Development Board (NFDB) aim to ensure livelihood of millions of fishermen through massive programme of training in technology of aquaculture and inland fishery to make them self-reliant and eradicate poverty under Mission of Blue Revolution of Government of India. With this vision ICAR-CIFRI has organized a three days training programme on 22 nd to 24 th October, 2018 sponsored by NFDB to train, promote and motivate aqua culturist to enhance the capability in handling the advance technologies in aquaculture and management of natural resources to ameliorate their life.
