Dr B.K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI inaugurated five-day training programme for the farmers of Balasore District of Odisha on ‘Inland Fisheries Management and development’ on 15November, 2017 at Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore, Kolkata. 30 fish farmers of Balasore, Odisha have been participating in this programme sponsored by DFO cum CEO, FFDA, Balasore, Odisha.Dr. B.K Das, Director, CIFRI interacted with the trainees and also gave discussed on various aspects of inland fisheries with special reference to livelihood improvement and focused on the management measures for inland fisheries resources.The training curriculum was designed after need assessment of the farmers, and includes both classrooms as well as field level demonstrations on various aspects of inland fisheries management including feeding, disease management, wetland fisheries etc.

Dr. V. R. Suresh, Head, REF division and Dr. B. P. Mohanty, Head FREM division also interacted with the fish farmers and motivated them to adopt new techniques of inland fisheries management. This five days training programme is being coordinated by Ganesh Chandra, P. K. Parida and Himanshu Shekhar Swain.
