ICAR-CIFRI organized NFDB sponsored Skill Development Programme

A three days skill development programme on “Ornamental fisheries management for income generation” was inaugurated by the chief guest Dr. A. G. Ponniah, Former Director of ICAR- NBFGR, Lucknow and CIBA, Chennai witnessed by Dr. B. B. Jana,Dr. Abhijit Mitra and Dr. M. K. Das as the guests of honor. Dr. Archana Sinha welcome all the guests and participants. Dr. B. K. Das, Director, ICAR-CIFRI, Barrackpore highlighted the benefit of the training programme for societal development. This training is sponsored by National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad for 50 farmers. Out of 50 participants 23 were women. The farmers came from different parts of West Bengal viz. Howrah, Balagarh, Buzbuz, Belghoria, Barrackpore and from Baripada of Orissa. The training consist the type of important inland ornamental fishes, their management, breeding, seed production, fabrication of aquarium and decoration for income generation. A visit to Gallif Street Ornamental fish Market is also included to learn the marketing demand. The programme was coordinated by Dr. Archana Sinha, Dr. A.K.Sahoo and Sri Himanshu S.
