Meeting with delegates from RMIT University and South East Water at ICAR-CIFRI
On 12th October, 2019 Professor Andy Ball, Director, Centre for Environmental Sustainability and Bioremediation, RMIT University, Dr. Sarvesh Kumar Soni, Research Scientist, Department of Biosciences and Food Technology, RMIT University and Dr. Aravind Surapaneni, Senior Research Scientist, South East Water, Melbourne visited ICAR-CIFRI to discuss about possible collaboration. The meeting was coordinated by Dr. B. K. Behera, Principle Scientist and I/C PME Cell. The meeting was attended by all the Heads of Divisions, other Principal Scientists, numerous scholars and other officials. The meeting began with the Welcome Address by Dr. B. K. Behera. After the formal introduction, Dr. Sarvesh displayed an interesting power point presentation describing the work done in RMIT and South East Water in the field of water transplant and utilization of biosolids. In response to that, under the inspiration of our Director, Dr. B. K. Das, the scientists of ICAR-CIFRI came up with various ideas on areas of collaboration amongst the organizations. Numerous topics came up which included treatment of waters in River Ganga, purification of East Kolkata Wetland to make it viable for fisheries, eradication of microplastics in water system and so on. There was vivid interaction amongst the officials and opened a great scope for collaboration.
