ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute, Barrackpore observed Vigilance Awareness Week during 28th October to 2nd November 2019

The Institute observed the "Vigilance Awareness Week” during 28th October to 2nd November 2019 focusing on the theme area" integrity - A way of Life”. The week long observance was started with administration of pledge to the officials and staff on 28th October by the Director. The staff were also encouraged to take e-pledge through demonstration. Large numbers of posters, banners, placards were displayed at the campus premises showing the ill effects of corruption and the commitment of CIFRI toward zero tolerance on corruption. All the staff formed a human chain showing the unity in fighting the corruption. The human chain was followed by a walkathon upto local ferry ghat, a busy commuting point, in order to make aware and sensitize the general public for raising their voice against cheating/corruption. The walkathon arouse much interest of the locals and commuters.

On 30th October an open drawing competition was organized in which all categories of institute staff participated. Various facets of integrity were drawn by the staff. On 31st October an extempore competition was conducted for the students, young professionals and other contractual staff. The young men brilliantly speak their minds. On 1st November the Institute team reached to Modern English Academy, a local high school. An essay writing competition was organised for the senior students. The students expressed their thoughts on how to make society corruption free. The week-long celebration was culminated through a concluding ceremony on 2nd November in which Shri Dipankar Bhattacharjee, IPS, DIG (Training) and Principal of Swami Vivekananda State Police Academy, Barrackpore was the Chief Guest. He delivered a thought provoking lecture for upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct, honesty and integrity. Dr. B.K. Das, Director discussed the importance of transparency and preventive vigilance for a corruption free organization. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Arun Pandit, Vigilance Officer of the institute.
